Visual Arts I 

Visual Arts is designed to provide experiences with the Elements of Art and Principles of Design primarily through a problem-solving, studio approach using a variety of media and technological resources. The areas of concentration will be the social and historical relevance of art and the principles of design. This will be reinforced through the use of various visual arts techniques and theories. Introduction to, and exploration of, relevant artists and historical art styles will also contribute to the understanding and synthesis of these concepts.

 Note:        Each unit will consist of lectures, lessons and projects that are designed to investigate and demonstrate the concepts and facts concerning each of the content areas. A short quiz will be given at the conclusion of each unit, as well as a cumulative final exam at the completion of the course. No homework will be required, however some may wish to finish work at home in order to meet deadlines.
 
 
Drawing I 

This course is designed to provide experiences with visual arts in order to further promote expression, creativity, visual problem solving and critical thinking. This goal will be achieved by various technical methods. Drawing students will focus on the understanding of various drawing media, as well as comprehension of drawing techniques. All students will continue to investigate the purpose, function meaning and historical relevance of art, culminating in independent projects.

 Note:        Each unit will consist of lectures, lessons and projects that are designed to investigate and demonstrate the concepts and facts concerning each of the content areas. A short quiz will be given at the conclusion of each unit, as well as a cumulative final exam at the completion of the course. No homework will be required, however some may wish to finish work at home in order to meet deadlines. ALL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN A SKETHBOOK FOR THIS CLASS! 
 
 
 
Painting I 
 
 This course is designed to provide experiences with visual arts in order to further promote expression, creativity, visual problem solving and critical thinking. This goal will be achieved by various technical methods. Painting students will continue to explore color and light, and experiment with a selection of painting media. All students will continue to investigate the purpose, function meaning and historical relevance of art, culminating in independent painting projects.
